Acupuncture

Acupuncture is now a widely accepted form of treatment in medicine, both in NHS and the private sector. This is due to its success in alleviating pain and treating a wide variety of conditions. It is a gentle form of treatment which aims to restore the body balance, by utilising the natural hormones in the system. It provides an alternative to those who may wish to avoid medication.

Acupuncture works naturally with little or no side effects. Only single use, pre-sterilised needles are used to avoid any cross contamination. When the very fine needles are inserted, they give rise to a sensation like a mild pin-prick which should only give temporary discomfort. The deep needling sensation is part of the effective stimulation. Most people are pleasantly surprised at how little they feel. However, all treatments at the clinic are with your consent. The physiotherapists at this clinic are members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and are governed by their code of practice.

If needles are not for you, then electro-puncture or other treatment modalities are also available.

The time required for the treatment would depend on the problem/s and what else may be needed to be done to achieve the best result. Treatments times are usually 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes.
